He's BEAUTIFUL. Almost tempted to leave the gray eyes in...I think I just need to give him back that wonderful sideways glance he came with.

There is a bit of a spot on his nose though...not sure what can be done about that.

Just placed the order for a dollzone mo-b head in normal yellow and a wig from leekeworld! I FINALLY found some owner pics of him (and some with faceups, some without), and the A head really does look as bad as everyone says in action. The B head is fabulous though. Here's the regular picture of it from DDE (I don't want to repost anyone's personal pics!):

Except it comes in a variety of colors (a pretty impressive selection, really!) so mine's going to be light blonde with pink streaks - using this color chart, the base (black) will be eve cream, and the streak will be pink cocktail♥

I have some beautiful vibrant brown eyes at home that I'll probably use with him, unless they turn out too big and I have to order new ones, but I'm not in a huge rush. AoD's forums reveal them to be somewhat of an untrustworthy selection it seems...I've heard they had really good customer service, but now people seem to be having a lot of problems with them, so I might try and get a body secondhand or wait it out for a DZ body (though I really don't relish paying $400 for a body, good god).

But eeeeeeee just waiting on the paypal invoice and the money to deposit! It shouldn't be a long wait for shipping since DDE is in, well...Denver, and hopefully since the head was a 2010 event item they'll just have it up there in stock somewhere. Hopefully!

Auuugh Alberta I'm sorry...I'm totally getting a DZ Mo event head from DDE. It's 1/3 size! It's Mo! I need it!

...And I love the normal yellow skin, but it's so dark. It looks like it's going to be hard to match it to anything and the DZ body would be almost four hundred dollars.

and they showcase what his eyes look like irl! kind of. they shine different colors (orange and green mostly) depending on how the light hits them!

also can you tell i brushed his hair ahahah. i found a rubber band to make the wig fit better too...

he still can't hold his arms up though, they flop. i'm scared to restring him but i know i have to...i'm holding his elbow off camera.

he still sits really pretty though. i put a little towel down on the table and sit him up beside me while i work <3

In other not-so-immature-and-impatient news, I have been looking at other RS/BBB dolls. They have one called Lu, who is a really pretty mermaid-type sculpt, but she's also pretty small...about 15 inches compared to Long's staggering 27. So idk how well they'd fit together, hrmmm.

There's also the previously thought of Dan's head on Ai's body, too. To be honest, I like both!

Not sure if I've given up on Alberta yet. I just don't feel that I'd be able to come up with $400.

Not Quite...

I got a failed delivery slip in the mail yesterday. Got my hopes way up, drove down there before even going home first, and got there six minutes after they closed, ugh. So of course I went there first thing. It was his shoes and iphone. Gahhhh. I'm happy that this probably means all of his clothing and stuff will be here when he arrives (the nice lady who got my MoC stuff sent it out yesterday)...but I was really hoping it was him.

Okay so I totally flaked about posting for this...but the wonderful Sun contacted me on Thursday to confirm my address and she said that they'd be shipping Mister Long in two days! But they actually shipped him out on FRIDAY! He's in Shenzhen now...wherever that is.

Also Mint on Card totally fudged up my clothing order and sent it to Minnesota. I know this because someone called me saying they got it, and offered to forward it to me...my phone number and address were in the package! Can you believe it? Of course I contacted MoC about it. And the woman I ordered shoes from on ebay still has not provided any shipping thing, grr.

Impatient waiting times, ahoy...

Oh, and

did I mention his eyes arrived over the weekend? They are beeeeautiful. They look deep and black but when you turn them to shine in the light they shift to green and gold. It's awesome.

A tiny nudist colony we are not...

I put in the order for some itty bitty clothing today. Since the jeans tutorial I found requires a lot of fitting I got him a pair of those, and a pair of sneakers (since I can't sew those, sadly), and...maybe an itty bitty iPhone. Hey, it was cheaper than the laptop/headphone combo I was initially considering (and also idk if the headphones would fit his elf ears...).

A kind user on DoA offered to get me the measurements for the shirt tutorial though, huzzah! So I will be making some of those, out of the material I bought, and also a couple of old shirts. I want to use the shirt that my Grandma bought me that I wore to Disney World and my old Pokemon shirt. I love both but I can't wear either now due to the holes, so hopefully I can make some use of them!

Day 23...and counting weekends, 23 more to go. So I guess this is the real halfway point. Waiting is hard!

So Lizzy pointed out to me that I should be counting in business days. Which makes today like day 21. So I'm a little over halfway there. Guhhh.

Can you tell I'm having a hard time waiting?

Bunch of googling, DoA searching, youtube... Found out that Xue's profile view shows she has an astoundingly big honker, and while I enjoy pronounced noses, it's not as beaky as I thought it was (or hooked - rounded?). I imagined it as more of a smooth downward slope, but it's narrow and pointy. Huhm. I'm glad I took the advice to go look for owner pics (though finding ones of Xue are pretty hard - and people seem to like to mod her nose too, ahahah). I found a video of her and some pics, and she's very thin, too. I knew she was skinny but not that skinny! Not that I'm getting another doll anytime soon anyway, but it makes me feel even better about the decision I made. She's still very pretty but she's not as enamoring as I originally thought.

Found a video of Dan too. She's nice. I think I'd like a unicorn-type doll, with hooves and ears and a horn... There's another doll RS sells that might be nice for that but her hooves aren't as nice as the girl that is the same size as Dan, and she's like 42 cm or so.

A doll that I've really been obsessing over hardcore since I first saw her is Alberta.


Doll Chateau's stuff is so pretty and creepy. I adooore her. I really like their conjoined twin doll as well, but she's...well, around four times as more as Mister Incoming Long. Not sure if I'm willing to even think about that kind of cash right now.

Alberta is about twice as much, and is a nice daydream for the time being.

His eyes shipped yesterday!

Less than two weeks to go!

Over halfway there!

If Sun's estimate is to be believed, there are only about two weeks left until he's shipped out! Or less, she did say within 40 days. His eyes still haven't arrived though, but that's not unexpected, since I read more into it and they're custom made for every order (I think that's pretty cool - as dorky as it sounds, he'll have eyes especially made for him, hahah).

I did go and buy some fabric to try and sew him some clothes. It's a bit stretchy so hopefully I can do well with it.

I found a thread on DoA that's just for 70cm RS dolls, and most of them are Longs/Fengs. Seeing pictures of him just makes me more excited! And the white skin is beautiful - I was a bit worried about not getting the 'real'/natural color, but it looks gorgeous in every pic I've seen.

Waiting is so haaaaard...but I've been busy lately with my new workload so the time goes by surprisingly fast.

The Waiting Game

So since I managed to order from ResinSoul without registering (somehow...), I contacted them to confirm my payment and address and such. Their wonderful English representative Sun got back to me fairly quickly and said the Long doll should be shipping out within FORTY DAYS. Whoohoo! That's pretty fast. It's been about two weeks now, so I still have...about three to go, hahah.

His wig arrived the other day, but I didn't even remove it from the default packaging as I don't want to damage or muss it (not before he's gotten to wear it, anyway!), and I live with two darling manchildren and two demonic cats.

I found a lot of free and easy patterns for clothing on DoA, so more optimism here! Maybe I really can just give him home-made clothes for awhile... I'm not cheap, I swear! Just broke, lol.

The Resin's Still Unwritten

It's been awhile since I've posted here, mostly because I am a lazy lump, but also because I had to spend my doll savings due to an emergency situation last month (but luckily everyone is fine now, it was just a situation where I had to pay for meds/a special diet due to a minor throat injury that my bf has since healed up from) and that kind of depressed me (I was like 1/3 of the way there!).

Buuuuut he more than paid me back during tax season (we got early forms), and I ordered my Resinsoul Long a couple of days ago! I had enough to get the wig and eyes as well and only ended up owing my bf $30, lol. The wig has shipped, the eyes will probably take a few weeks since I picked a slow slow shipping option (no hurry since the Long doll will probably take quite some time unfortunately /grumble)... I'm so excited! I can't wait for him to get here. I've sort of purposefully abstained from going to the local meetups because I want him to be the first bjd that I see up close and hold (though I've also been way too busy and broke to make it to one, hah). I haven't thought of a name yet, I figure everything will come to me once he gets here. Unfortunately he probably won't have any fancy clothes for awhile, but I figure I can practice making some and maybe by the time I actually have money for stuff I won't need it (AND THEN I CAN BUY ANOTHER DOLL ahahaha). This is me being optimistic - no, this is me not caring because I'M GOING TO HAVE A DOLL SOON. Or, well...maybe within a month, if I really am being optimistic.

Obsession

I've spent a lot of time recently browsing DoA, reading about peoples' experiences and looking at their galleries. I've also spent quite a bit of time windowshopping... And I feel a certain draw towards Long, a 70cm Resinsoul elf boy (I mentioned him in my first post). I've yet to find many pictures of Xue (though a friend did show me a few, and she is a very gorgeous sculpt!), however, Long/Feng (Long is just Feng with elf ears) seem to be fairly popular, and looking at photostories featuring them makes my heart ache.

70cm is big! It's 27.6 inches, a little over two feet. I've had problems finding clothes for that size, aside from on the sites that belong to the higher-tier doll companies, which are charging $100+ for a nice outfit (a bit more than I'm currently willing to spend on babby's first doll clothes). But I really want a big doll, and Long is such an awesome model.

I also like Dan, but she's already taken her place as a secondary purchase in my mind. I was informed that I could indeed purchase a Dan head and an Ai body if I made a special note of it to Resinsoul, which is awesome, and definitely something I want to do...just not right now.

Right now, it's kind of a tug-of-war between Xue and Long...and I think Long's winning. On one hand, Xue seems more unique in that I haven't seen anyone on DoA who owns one, and she's also got a beautiful face that I haven't seen reflected in any non-RS sculpts (a few of their dolls favor her slightly but not exactly). On the other hand, I did want my first doll to be a male, and I feel a kind of...bond? With Long? If that makes sense? I feel a little crazy for saying that, but it's true.

And I know in a few weeks I'll be one of those people who calls their doll by name and talks about them like a real person, but, eh. I already do this with my cats and virtual pets, so it's not a huge stretch.

I already know which wig (in pink) and eyes I would get Xue if I got her, and have an idea of the image of her character in my head. I have an idea of which wig and eyes I would get Long as well, though his character is eluding me somewhat... I don't want to fall into a stereotype with him, and I know I have a habit of repetitive male characters based on what I find attractive. But I'm not too worried about it at the moment.

I just want this 25 days to run up so I can access DoA's marketplace and get started already!
